Contrast and contradiction are main themes in the newly unveiled collection of sculptural pieces including the Subtraction Chair from One Hundred Ninth and designer Graham Kelman. 

Kelman uses architectonic operations and parametric design processes to subtract voids from an iconic form and infills with an expressive steel inlay.  Removing a key joint in the chair’s structure creates a sense of disbelief and a satisfying drama.    

Kelman says, “We think these tensions create some really interesting gestures and interpretations.”
